 70TH PRECINCT COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 19, 2025

President Mr. Ed Powell commenced the meeting with opening words and the Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Rabbi Perlstein gave us words of encouragement.  The message was things are not always what they seem.
COMMANDING OFFICER’S REPORT
Deputy Inspector Wernersbach notified everyone that he making his report early so that he could prepare for COMSTAT the next day.
OFFICERS OF THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER
P.O. Jaden Keaton and P.O. Michael Monetti for their courage and heroic action that led to a man being taken into custody for shooting his friend.
70th Precinct is down overall in crime by 2%. 
Rape down 67%.
Grand Larceny, robbery and burglary is up. In addition, robbery is up citywide due to youths being held up at knife point for their high-end jackets.  There have been retail thefts as well.

Homicide
There was a case of mistaken identity in which a gang member mistakenly shot and killed someone at Church Avenue and East 18th.  
On Regents Place someone was shot in the leg at a memorial for someone’s mother.
Thefts : There have been an uptick in thefts.
After the CO completed his report, which he gave early because he had to prepare for COMSTAT, Joe Dweck asked about the drag racing incident at Ave J and Ocean Parkway.  The CO corrected the misinformation being circulated: It was not drag racing, it was ICE agents that were present and sparked a demonstration.
Nathan Thompson then announced that Community Affairs did a great job at the Halloween Parade in October.

ANNOUNCEMENTS 
District Manager Shawn Campbell of Community Board 14 made it known that all meetings held by the Board is open to the public and that all are welcomed. She then thanked the Q-Team, DI Wernersbach, Det. Nuzzi and President Ed Powell for always being there for the Board.
President Powell welcomed member of CB 14 Joe Dweck and Waquil Ahmed.
Tyesha Allen from Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermely’s Office informed us that over 600 families received packages at the Turkey Giveaway on November 15, 2025.
Meagan Flemming-White from Councilmember Farah Louis’ Office reported that there have been some flooding within District 45 and that the Councilmember has been working with Environmental Protection to clear the catchment areas. CM Lewis also extended gratitude to the pantries that filled the gap during the shutdown in Washington. CM Lewis introduced Intro 1439 that requests that NYPD assign at least one crossing guard for every public and private school K-8 in September 2026 to ensure our student’s safety.
President Ed Powell reiterated that it’s necessary to get everyone’s email so that the minutes can be sent prior to each meeting. He also acknowledged and thanked Clergy Liaison Rev. John Beaulieu who has been serving for 27 years.  He also acknowledged and thank safety patrol including Shomrim and Shimra.  He acknowledged all members of the Board was present. 
Det. Scott Nuzzi announced that there would be a Blood Drive for Det. Dillon Stewart on November 26 from 1.0am to 6pm.  All are welcomed to donate.  Location: In front of the 70 Precinct. He also announced that the next meeting would be the Holiday Meeting on December 17, 2025. I falls right in the middle of Hannukah, which the Rabbi said was okay.
