Patrol Brooklyn South News

The Patrol Borough Brooklyn South would like to extend greetings and salutations to our community members of Brooklyn South. The members of PBBS hope you had a safe and healthy winter and are looking forward to a beautiful springtime. As the seasons change so do the happenings within the Borough of Brooklyn South. We wish to take this time to inform you of the recent personnel movement within our Borough.

We start by welcoming the addition of Deputy Chief John E. Essig to the Patrol Borough Brooklyn South. Deputy Chief Essig arrives from the Patrol Borough Brooklyn North and is designated to serve as one of two Executive Officers within the Borough. We embrace his arrival to Brooklyn South and wish Deputy Chief Essig nothing but success in his new position.
With equal parts excitement and sadness we announce changes occurring on the precinct level as well. Inspector Peter Simonetti, long time Commanding Officer of the 71st Precinct, is newly designated as the Operations Commander of the Patrol Borough Brooklyn North. We wish him success in his future endeavors as he will be missed by many amongst our community. Replacing Insp. Simonetti is Captain John Lewis. Capt. Lewis comes to the 71st after stints as the Commanding Officer of the 76th Precinct and within the Detective Bureau. He has also held executive positions in the 67th and 69th Precincts.

Captain Lewis's transfer brings Captain Jeffrey Schiff to assume the helm of the 76th Precinct as the new Commanding Officer. Capt. Schiff arrives from his past assignment as the Executive Officer of the 67th Precinct. We also see changes in Boro Park as Deputy Inspector John Sprague departs to command Staten Island's 120th Precinct. He, too, will be missed and we wish him continued success in his new command. Succeeding D.I. Sprague in the 66th Precinct is Deputy Inspector Michael Deddo. D.I. Deddo returns to the 66th after most recently commanding the 63rd Precinct. He has also been previously assigned as the Commanding Officer of Brooklyn South Task Force and Executive Officer of both the 66th and 68th Precincts.

Brooklyn South would also like to introduce Captain John Rowell as the new Commanding Officer of the 63rd Precinct. The Captain arrives to us from the Patrol Services Bureau where he served as the Operations Commander. Capt. Rowell's prior assignments include serving as the Executive Officer of the 110th Precinct and the Commanding Officer of the 108th Precinct. We congratulate the Captain on his arrival and anticipate a fine working relationship with him.
PBBS also wants to remind our community members of the upcoming Showcase Festival on April 22nd in Prospect Park. It's a fine day to enjoy the splendors of Brooklyn with our families and friends. We hope to see you there and wish all our community members a safe and healthy springtime.

Respectfully,

Patrol Borough Brooklyn South
