CAMERAS: After a recent shooting which took place inside of the Parade Grounds, the 70th Precinct along with the New York City Parks Department conducted a follow-up security survey which resulted in the installation of NYPD Cameras with large poster signage to inform the community. They were additional Police personnel assigned to the Park and additional lighting will be installed at a later date.
SAFETY TIPS: In an effort to reduce crime at our local fitness gyms, we are asking the community to
leave valuables (i.e.credit cards and jewelry) at home. Please do not put these items in your
locker due to the recent locker break-ins.
As the weather gets warmer, we know that everyone would love to open their windows in
order to let in some fresh air, but if your window is located on the lower level make sure lock and secure them prior to leaving your home or going to sleep.
FYI: The 70th Precinct offers free Crime Prevention Security Surveys for residents and commercial establishments. Anyone interested in receiving a survey, Please contact: PO’s Demarco or McGuiness at 718-851-5504.
PEDESTRIAN SAFTEY:In an effort to ensure both pedestrian and motorist safety, the 70th Precinct would like to
remind motorist to remain alert and refrain from talking and texting on their cell phone
while driving.
BICYCLE INITIATIVE
Bicycle accidents and bicyclist injuries have seen a dramatic increase in the past
year. Please be advised that in an effort to reduce these types of accidents, the 70 Precinct will be holding bicyclists more accountable for their actions, as they already do motorists, by issuing traffic violations. Bicyclists must adhere to many of the same rules of the road as motorists do. For example, stopping at red lights, obeying traffic devices, etc... In addition, to reduce serious injuries to bicyclists, the 70 Precinct will have "zero tolerance" towards bicyclists who utilize headphones while riding a bicycle, and do not utilize a bicycle lane when it is available. It is the 70 Precinct's mission to keep the roadways safe for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Thank you for your compliance.
**FYI*** Recent business from Transit District 34 reports that there has been an increase in electronic devices being stolen from passengers on board the subway system. Be aware, as train door are closing, property is being removed.
