70th PRECINCT JANUARY 2011 NEWSLETTER

70TH PRECINCT NEWSLETTER
Greetings from the 70th Precinct, January, 2011

We would like to say Happy New Years to everyone in the community. New Years Eve was a great success, there were no incidents.

The 70th Precinct would like to thank everyone for their help and support during the snow storms. The Officers worked very diligently responding to emergency jobs and assisting Emergency Services transporting patients to medical facilities.

In the future, the 70th Precinct will be fully staffed and will always be available to assist you in all your needs. Always remember to always prepare for the snow by giving yourself enough time to arrive to your destination; rushing and excessive speed can cause accidents. Park your car legally and if you live on a “one-way” street, try to park on the left side of the street, Sanitation plows to the right. If you decide to drive make sure you have a full tank of gas and a shovel in your car. For further inquires, please contact the 70th Precinct at 718-851-5511.

PEDESTRIAN SAFTEY:
In an effort to ensure both pedestrian and motorist safety, the 70th Precinct would like to remind motorist to remain alert and refrain from talking and texting on their cell phone while driving. Also; Bicycle accidents and bicyclist injuries have seen a dramatic increase in the past year. Please be advised that in an effort to reduce these types of accidents, the 70 Precinct will be holding bicyclists more accountable for their actions, as they already do motorists, by issuing traffic violations. Bicyclists must adhere to many of the same rules of the road as motorists do. For example, stopping at red lights, obeying traffic devices, etc... In addition, to reduce serious injuries to bicyclists, the 70 Precinct will have "zero tolerance" towards bicyclists who utilize headphones while riding a bicycle, and do not utilize a bicycle lane when it is available. It is the 70 Precinct's mission to keep the roadways safe for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Thank you for your compliance.

Help stop Terrorism, if you see something, say something!
